About River Recon
We're not a kennel. We're a family who loves this breed deeply and takes every litter seriously.
Just a Family and Two Great Dogs
River Recon Chesapeakes isn't a commercial operation — it's a passion. We have two AKC-registered bird dogs we love and hunt behind every season. When we decided to breed, we did it because we wanted to share what these dogs are capable of.
The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is not a breed for everyone. They are independent, powerful, and relentless — exactly what you need when the water is cold and the birds are down. We breed for that character, not against it.
Every decision we make starts and ends with field performance. We don't put a puppy in a home we wouldn't be proud of.
Where We Come From
We're a family on the edge of the country — close to the field, close to the birds, and far enough out that the dogs can be dogs.
How We Do It
01
Field Performance
Both of our dogs are AKC registered and proven in the field every season. We hunt behind them. That's the standard.
02
Selective Placement
We place puppies with hunters and serious families who are ready to develop a working retriever. Every puppy deserves the right home.
03
Lifelong Support
When you get a River Recon puppy, you get our number. We're here for the life of your dog.
